Job Summary

 The Director, Marketing Communications' reporting to the Vice President, Marketing will be responsible for helping to define and manage execution of GSTV's industry marketing strategy, inclusive of: optimizing reach/engagement of earned and paid media campaigns, PR and Thought Leadership, industry membership and event participation, and digital tactics.  The Director will work to understand and engage GSTV's audiences, strengthening our visibility and driving demand among brands, clients, agencies and partners.

This position is both strategic and operational.  The Director will lead a Marketing Specialist and work with other teams to develop strategies, ideate and create lead-generating content to help advance GSTV's objectives.  Requires an outstanding communicator, cross-functional team player, creative thinker and writer, and strong industry contacts and knowledge.


 Industry Marketing - Develop and implement industry marketing strategies and plans, to generate measurable awareness and strengthen the company's market position among key audiences.

  • Develop a keen understanding of network capabilities, limitations, etc. in order to facilitate more informed communications
  • Work closely with marketing counterparts and executive team on internal and external messaging
  • Strategize, plan and manage execution of all paid and earned media campaigns across industry and vertical-specific trades
  • Manage relationships and opportunities with industry organizations (i.e. DPAA, IAB, OAAA, Ad Clubs, etc.); ensure active participation among internal constituents
  • Manage Industry Marketing events, inclusive of executive attendance, sponsorship, exhibition, etc.
  • Create and maintain systematic ROI tracking and measurement

 External Communications - In conjunction with internal marketing counterparts and GSTV leadership, develop, manage and track a well-integrated communications strategy for the GSTV brand to continue to grow its presence in the marketplace

  • Manage external PR agency; direct corporate communications, media relations and press inquiries
  • Partner with internal teams to create media-worthy narratives; building a rolling press calendar
  • Produce collateral materials and execute outbound PR initiatives (e.g. plans, press releases, story pitches, fact sheets, etc.)
  • Work closely with members of the executive team to develop thought leadership communications and speaking engagements
  • Track press and media mentions, define and hit press KPIs
  • Develop and nurture relationships with targeted national media and vertical-specific press contacts

 Digital - Manage all GSTV digital output (both internal and external) across target audiences

  • Manage GSTV website, inclusive of updates, content refresh, lead gen management, etc.
  • Develop and execute Social Media strategy, defining platform-specific audiences and tactics across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Drive the development of content including email newsletters, social media, blog posts, and others
  • Manage internal and external email communications

Team/Department Leadership - Coach, mentor and develop staff. Inclusive of:

  • Lead employee(s) to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment
  • Overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
  • Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of Marketing Communications KPIs. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
  • Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, etc.


  • 4-year degree in public relations, communications, marketing or journalism from an accredited college or university. MBA or MA/MS preferred.
  • 6-8 years of progressively responsible marketing communications and/or public relations work experience.
  • Prior media/press and industry organization relationships, particularly within the media space, with experience as a media point of contact.
  • Experience developing, managing or planning events and event sponsorships.
  • Deep understanding of all social platform capabilities and product offerings.
  • The individual should be able to exhibit professional writing samples (press releases, blog posts, white papers, etc.) and have work experience in Marketing Communications in a similar enterprise or industry.
  • Personnel management experience required.
