Job Summary

Project managers are integral to the development process ' they keep the process moving smoothly and hold the team accountable to deadlines. They work closely with product owners to track development work against a larger roadmap.  Additionally, project managers help the team grow by suggesting holding retrospectives that ask difficult questions and help the team make healthy change.


  • Managing and facilitating sprint planning meetings, daily scrum, sprint review meetings, sprint retrospectives and grooming sessions.
  • Collaborating with team members to create and track tasks and bugs using project management tools.
  • Tracking the sprint backlog and monitoring progress to ensure definitions of done are met.
  • Identifying areas where increased communication, understanding and knowledge transfer is required to remove current and potential roadblocks for the team.
  • Working with development team members to help identify and clear impediments keeping work from being completed.
  • Partnering with product owners and development leadership to prioritize the product backlog.
  • Provide an accurate status of their progress during the daily scrum meeting.
  • Work with the team during regular sprint planning sessions to develop detailed technical tasks from business requirements while providing time estimates, identifying dependencies, and setting deadlines.
  • Provide rough estimates of the development complexity for future functionality by asking probing questions of business analysts and product owners during backlog grooming sessions.
  • Prepare and deliver business value oriented demonstrations to the development team or end-users.
  • Participate in frequent retrospective and post mortem discussions while providing critical analysis with a focus on process improvement and conflict resolution.
  • Act autonomously in their decision making while following philosophies and guidelines established by the team.
  • Partner with the Director of Engineering and other team members to develop roadmaps for their areas of expertise.
  • Participate in on boarding all new employees with a focus on cross-functional competencies.


You must have a strong understanding of the following:

  • Facilitation Techniques.
  • Project management tools - we use JIRA and Confluence.
  • Estimation and risk assessment.
  • Evaluating software development lifecycles and suggesting iterative improvements.
  • Distinguish between user requests and the underlying business needs.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources while reconciling conflicts or gaps.
  • Break down high-level information into details and abstract up from low-level requirements to a general understanding of the business. 


  • Five to seven years experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field

Working Conditions

  • This position may require occasional night or weekend work to support product launches.
  • This position will work with a geographically dispersed, remote team.
